  • 20 March 2014 E-Prospectus

Do you still buy books or do you read your novel on a portable device? Do you read the news on paper or online? A lot of people have moved from paper to electronic alternatives when it comes to reading.

No matter what industry you’re working in, business demands that information is available as and when needed.

At Prisma we have developed e-Prospectus, a program that allows you to read your legal documentation on your laptop, smartphones or tablet in a digital format. As the equivalent of a conventional printed book or a PDF file, the easy-to-read e-Prospectus gives you the availability and accessibility on almost any sophisticated electronic device allowing you to read information in a comfortable way. You don’t need to take a large paper document with you on the train or plane where you might have limited space available. Just take your tablet or e-book reader and view it from there

One of many interesting features would be that words can be selected and searched throughout the book. Definitions of words can also be found which will give the reader a brief description of what the word means. Furthermore, notes can be added to any part of the document at any time. Readers can also highlight passages and when this is done, the part of the E-Prospectus which deals with the chapters and notes will automatically save the words or sentences which were highlighted.

If you have any questions on our e-Prospectus please do contact us. We would be happy to give you further information on this.

  • 6 February 2014 Prisma awarded with the ECO label “SuperDrecksKëscht”

Prisma is now ISO 14024 since being awarded the Eco-label today for good ecological waste management. In today’s day and age, we believe it is important to actively participate in reducing waste. At Prisma we use dedicated recycling bins for glass, paper and plastic etc. for our waste, all of which is being recycled.

Although Prisma were already highly proficient when it came to their recycling habits, the good people at SuperDrecksKëscht were able aid us in achieving an even higher standard of waste management.

In order to obtain this much coveted label, a number of extra measures had to be implemented in our day-to-day routine that would guarantee the appropriate sorting, storage and collection of our office waste. After which a full audit by SuperDrecksKëscht was conducted to ensure we had met all the necessary prerequisites to obtain the label.

  • 21 November 2013 State Street Professional Women Network events - Gender Diversity Discussion

I was recently invited to be on the panel of one of the State Street Professional Women Network events. The “Gender Diversity Discussion” took place on November 21 in the State Street premises, and was open to all employees. The reality was though that nearly only women attended with a handful of men in-between.

The panel was composed of three female speakers sharing their individual experiences and challenges in the domains of human resources, entrepreneurship and networking.

The human capital partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers Luxembourg, Vinciane Istace, started the discussion by sharing the efforts and best practices undertaken within PwC to demonstrate gender diversity and presented the top three areas that the company focuses on.

Clara Moraru shared her network initiatives with the audience as the leader of the Inspiring Wo-Men Business Club, explaining why it is important for women to network in order to achieve career progression.

In my role as the CEO of Prisma Luxembourg and Poland, I took the audience through the daily work life of a female entrepreneur in Luxembourg, by explaining what the challenges can be to run a company, manage staff and develop business as a female leader in the market; and how it was to set-up a company eight years ago. Is there a difference between male and female leaders? Between a woman or a man setting up a company? I’m not sure.

You are not born an entrepreneur, at least not in my view. Nothing in my family background paved the way for me to become one, far from it actually. When, in 2006, it was clear that I wanted to set-up my own company, I grasped the first opportunity, forgot about my fears and jumped in. You must stop just dreaming about what you want to do, the day will come where you must take a decision and just do it.

Are women not as courageous as men when it comes to setting up a business? Possibly, but then you must believe in yourself and trust that you can do it.

In Luxembourg the Prisma team is composed of nearly women only. For us this works very well and every time we hire, we seem to get more CVs from women than from men. It might be the nature of our business that seems more appealing to women.

    Passion makes the difference

The difference between a manager and a (female) founder is the passion and the love for what you have you created. When you found a company you put all your heart and soul into in.

Entrepreneurship is fast so for the first years whilst you surf on the wave of success in-between all the struggles, you don’t really have time to sit down and look back.

This happens only later when you take a step back and you realise that you still feel the same love and passion for what you’ve created even after many years and I’m convinced this must be the same for every entrepreneur, irrespective of whether it is a man or a woman.

  • 4 November 2013 AIFMD implementation, Luxembourg ahead of the game…

On the 10 July 2013, the Luxembourg parliament passed the draft law regarding the implementation of the Alternative Investment Fund Managers Directive (AIFMD) into national law. Luxembourg implemented the AIFMD ahead of schedule.

The Directive’s purpose is to aim at regulating alternative investment fund managers and, indirectly, the funds they manage (the AIF).Incorporated in the directive are various requirements that will apply at the level of the AIF, such as the requirements for a depositary, a valuation agent, the publication of an annual report and accounts and to provide investors information in the form of an offering memorandum or otherwise and to report to regulators. A key feature of AIFMD is the introduction of a European passport for alternative investment fund managers who wish to access the cross-border European market.

Furthermore, the new law will establish a special tax regime with tax at a reduced rate on carried interest, one of the aims of this is to attract more fund managers to Luxembourg.

If you require further information or assistance for your additional reporting requirements in light of AIFMD implementation, please contact us at prisma@prisma.lu
